Our Story

Ps Tim Hall and a number of families were sent from Richmond AOG (now Neuma Church) to plant a church in Geelong. The meetings began at the Geelong West Town Hall before moving to St Philip, then moving again to the GPAC Music Hall.

In 1992, under the leadership of Ps Colin Oates, the church moved to an empty warehouse in Dowsett Street, South Geelong, with regular church camps being held in Anglesea each Easter.

The church moved from South Geelong to the Geelong High School Hall, and later the Ukrainian Hall (Pakington Street) under the leadership of Ps Jim McMillan.

Ps Phil & Glenys Ward became the Pastors, and the church was moved to Newcomb Secondary College for 9 months, before a long-term lease was signed for 175 Moolap Station Road, then known as "Conca d'Oro".

The name of the church was changed to "Gateway Church Geelong".

In 2005, the church was able to take a step of faith and purchase the property at 175 Moolap Station Road, providing the first church-owned location in the history of the church.

Gateway Stronger Communities Initiative was established, with the mission to provide benevolent care and relief to the community surrounding the church

Gateway Stronger Communities Initiative launched a "Community Pantry" program, providing weekly access to essential food, household and hygiene items.

Gateway had continued to grow over the following years, and in 2026 a new era for the church was established, with a new identity to take the church into the future.
